The Mossy Story - 2 books for £10
When his class is learning about climate change, Jay imagines a carbon giant instead. Little does he know that this daydream is the start of a very big, very small adventure into the magical world of moss.
Join Jay as he travels with his Nana on an unforgettable journey, featuring dancing tardigrades, sleeping giants and the small things we can all do to build a brighter, greener future.
Written by Micha Colombo. Graphic design by Devon Tipping.

The story has been inspired by the How to Bury the Giant project, with themes of mosses, climate action, giants and tiny actions for a brighter greener future. Our thanks to Micha for her fabulous story.
You can also listen to Micha reading A Mossy Story here. We’ve made this audio version freely available to you because we believe that everyone should be supported to take creative steps towards a brighter greener future.
Inspired by Micha’s words, a group from the University of Plymouth Illustration BA and MA took part in The Mossy Book illustration event. This has lead to the beautiful illustrations in this publication, with Devon Tipping and Mikayla Schuler bringing the story to life with their beautiful illustrations.

“I was charmed by Tina the tea-loving tardigrade, and wise Moss. An inspirational story which captures the charm of a child’s daydream and reawakens the hope that we can stop chasing the carbon giant and help nature get healthy again.” Mike Walton, November 2024

Throughout 2020 and 2021 over 59,000 participants from the UK and overseas were inspired by moths and helped to make our award winning artwork 'Moths to a Flame' which was displayed in Glasgow for COP26. This multi-disciplinary project explored our relationship with energy and asked us to heal rather than harm our earth.
What's in this book?
This book is a collection of images and words reflecting the spirit, abundance, generosity, learning and hope that flowed through the project.
Included are poems from the poetry slam and messages from participants, images selected to show the chronology of the project's development, a record of things learned from moths and thought pieces from The Art and Energy Collective.
The limited edition book has 94 pages of recycled paper with printed with plant based inks.
