Lewis High School, USA get inspired by The Mossy Carpet

Art and Energy were so excited to hear that students in Virginia, USA have been inspired by The Mossy Carpet.
We’ve received these fabulous photos of the young people and their very own artwork and a really uplifting video with students speaking about how much getting involved has meant to them.
In the true spirit of The Mossy Carpet, student leaders Angelo, Kadiane and Andrea have been encouraging other students at feeder schools to get involved and estimate over 400 young people have joined in.
Not only have the students worked to create their own artwork, it’s all been created with donated yarn thanks to Michelle Duell, a retired art teacher who has sourced all the materials the students have used - thank you Michelle!
Special thanks to Mimi Marquet who shared The Mossy Carpet with the students and encouraged so much enthusiasm across the pond!
We have so loved these updates and feel inspired that our work has reached so far and wide.
“I think moss shows no matter how small, you can still contribute to the environment. Even though moss is as simple as a few patches of green, its benefit is intense. I think moss is a prime example of patience, as it’s been on our Earth for a while, and commitment. Its consistency is what makes it so powerful.”
“I think moss shows determination and perseverance because of how long it’s been on this planet. Moss has been around for over 450 million years and has survived through extreme climate changes. To me, that shows extreme tenacity. I also think that moss shows helpfulness because it prepares the soil for other plants to grow on.”
