The story has been inspired by the How to Bury the Giant project, with themes of mosses, climate action, giants and tiny actions for a brighter greener future. Our thanks to Micha for her fabulous story.
You can also listen to Micha reading A Mossy Story here. We’ve made this audio version freely available to you because we believe that everyone should be supported to take creative steps towards a brighter greener future.
Inspired by Micha’s words, a group from the University of Plymouth Illustration BA and MA took part in The Mossy Book illustration event. This has lead to the beautiful illustrations in this publication, with Devon Tipping and Mikayla Schuler bringing the story to life with their beautiful illustrations.

Throughout 2020 and 2021 over 59,000 participants from the UK and overseas were inspired by moths and helped to make our award winning artwork 'Moths to a Flame' which was displayed in Glasgow for COP26. This multi-disciplinary project explored our relationship with energy and asked us to heal rather than harm our earth.
What's in this book?
This book is a collection of images and words reflecting the spirit, abundance, generosity, learning and hope that flowed through the project.
Included are poems from the poetry slam and messages from participants, images selected to show the chronology of the project's development, a record of things learned from moths and thought pieces from The Art and Energy Collective.
The limited edition book has 94 pages of recycled paper with printed with plant based inks.

In September 2024 we showcased our new solar artwork We are All Connected.
We were commissioned by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to create an artwork to celebrate the launch of the region’s new energy strategy which over 100 organisations have been involved in co-creating.
The artwork we designed is solar powered – a reclaimed panel etched with poetic words derived from our conversations which cable across the surface provides power to a battery.
A ply frame depicts people, those working on developing our energy systems and energetic symbols and shapes which are illuminated by neon arcs the rise above the panel and a string of LEDs which are triggered by interaction with the artwork.
Viewers are invited to place their hands on copper plates on the frame and when they join hands, it triggers an Arduino controller creating a light display.
In essence, the artwork says ‘When we work together, we create illumination’.
We are All Connected is available to hire for your events, conferences and exhibitions.
Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and our costs - hello@artandenergy.org
