Peat-Fest South-West: A celebration of our peatland connections

Peat-Fest South-West was a region-wide celebration raising awareness of peatland heritage through youth-focused events, intergenerational skills exchange, creative activities, and digital storytelling. Through the summer and autumn of 2025, we created curiosity-generating, hands-on, fun-filled Bogtastic events, enjoying our boggy peatlands as special nature-rich places, necessary for all of life facing climate change and ecological decline.

Partnering up with RE-PEAT and collaborating with a diversity of peatland partnerships, youth-based and cultural organisations, their volunteers, and young people; we co-created activities and events for everyone to enjoy. Together, we encouraged relationships between younger people and their older peers in the future care for peatlands.

Peat-Fest South-West was made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to develop a bogtastic celebration of our peatland connections.

The legacy of Peat-Fest South-West continues; listen to our Bogcasts (podcasts) or Broadcasts, share our young person’s Manifesto or get out and about in your local peatlands with our engagement resources.
